Yuu is a quiet and timid guy who always stays in the shadows... since he doesn't like the attention and would most likely even fade into the background since his presence is not that noticeable. Paired with his quiet and timid personality is him being a soft-spoken individual because he is brought up to be careful with his usage of words and it is impossible for him to use harsh language. He is also docile -- he is someone who would always follow instructions though he might not do them if he think it is against his morals. He is very passionate on the things he love like taking care of animals and studying to become a very efficient Veterinarian. He is imaginative and he oftentimes thinks out-of-the-box as he spouts out creative ideas... mostly to himself since he is afraid to speak up. He is slightly afraid of strangers and it would take him a long time to consider someone his friend -- animals are a different story though. He is also a dense one and it's hard for him to read the atmosphere because of his lack of interaction or socialization with his fellow people with the exception of his Granny. Meaning his interactions with people are very awkward. Although he is very passionate, at times he can be very weak-willed because of his insecurities. If people tell him he can't do it, he would believe he really can't even though he can which makes him hesitant and doubtful of his own abilities. Despite being afraid of interacting with people, he is actually kind and he would help people in need if they want him to. And once he has a deep bond with someone, he will do anything for them... making him selfless. He is also loyal and would always support people who are close to him.

   A newborn baby boy in a basket was left at the front door of the house of a middle aged woman named Tachibana Junko, and she raised him as her own child, but she introduced herself to him as his granny. She named him Yuu since the baby looked so gentle and yes, he grew up to live by that description. Yuu treats her as his granny as what she wanted. But there came a time of course when he questioned as to where his parents are... it was when he was bullied by the neighborhood kids for being different and not having a mother and a father. The old lady would always tell him that his parents are somewhere out there and they would come back for him if he becomes a very good boy just to make him stop crying, and thus he grew up to become a nice young lad. A period of his childhood was spent mostly at home for his weak immune system and so made him stop going to school. He was homeschooled in his elementary days.
When he became better at his middle school years, he tried going to a normal school and it didn't quite go very well because of his peculiarity, but he just ignored the bullies and made himself disslove into the background. That made him invisible and it triggered him to stay alone for the rest of his middle school... until his granny brought him pets to take care for -- a puppy, a kitten, a parakeet and an aquarium of goldfishes. He started being very passionate about taking care of animals and he made it his goal to be a veterinarian... like his granny. His granny was actually a retired vet doctor and she supported his dreams.
At his high school days, his weak immune system acted up again, making him mostly absent at school and thus affected his grades very seriously. His granny looked for a school where he won't have to worry about grades and so she found out Umi no Gakuen. She enrolled Yuu at the said school... hoping for her child to fulfill his dreams without being hindered by the fear of failing.

Umi no Gakuen is where he will find his happiness.
